Effects of the Parameter C4ε in the Extended k-ε Turbulence Model for Wind Farm Wake Simulation Using an Actuator Disc

The actuator disc model (ADM) incorporated into the k-ε turbulence of EI Kasmi is able to simulate wind farm wakes with high fidelity, which essential for layout optimization and evaluation power production in modern farms. However, effects parameter C4ε on turbulent kinetic energy (TKE) superposition areas recovery wake velocity have rarely been studied. To this end, coupled advanced ADM PHOENICS investigate influence simulation farms (e.g., two offshore farms, one onshore farm). It concluded that a decreased makes generation range TKE vicinity rotor smaller, but near becomes larger, rate downstream turbine less affected by wake. As interwind spacing increases, area region each machine gradually reduces, atmospheric plays dominant role recovery. A can effectively promote inflow output turbines. simulated compares well measured value when = 0.15.
